Eclectic Evening of Shorts X: Boxers & Briefs

February 1-12, 2017

Theatre 54, 244 West 54th Street-12th Floor

Boxers or Briefs?  Which do you wear, uh, write?

Eclectic Evening of Shorts X,
coming February, 2017!

please read all the information below to apply

AND Theatre Company, Janice L. Goldberg, Kristine Niven, Artistic Co-Directors, is accepting submissions for our tenth annual Eclectic Evening of Shorts performing in February, 2017 We will accept a maximum of 10 short plays which will be performed as two complete evenings, Boxers & Briefs, running in alternating rep at Theatre 54 at Shetler Studios, 244 W. 54th St.

We are looking for short (5 - 12 minutes max) complete pieces, premieres encouraged. Pieces can be in the form of a play, sketch, clown, musical or other eclectic form.  (No solo pieces.  We have a solo program in the fall.)  Only one application per person. We will not accept applications via our website. Preference is given to work developed through our programs, specifically our open lab, Anything Goes, part of
ANDWednesdays.

Accepted material will be presented (think FringeNYC) staged, off book, with lights and sound and with simple sets, the key word being simple. Theatre 54 is a 60 seat black box. There is minimal storage at the theater. There is a piano available.  This will be an Equity Showcase.

Inclusive dates are - January 30 - February 12, 2017
Monday January 30 - Tuesday January 31 - load in / tech.

Performances: February 1- Feb 12, including matinees on Feb 4-5, and 11-12.

Casts must be available for all dates.  You must identify one person from your project (e.g., the director, the playwright, the producer) as liaison for the project to AND. This designated person will be responsible for communications between your project and AND.

There will be a mandatory production meeting on Tuesday, January 10, 6 pm at Shetler Studios, #1204. Either the director, the playwright, or the producer of your piece must attend.

1. Please click on the link below to fill out the application form. It asks for titles, contact information, bios of involved artists, history of production, tech needs.
2. Email the script (or what serves as the script) to
ANDJanice@aol.com

Scripts must be submitted in Word or PDF. Scripts must be in proper script form.  An application is considered complete when both the application and script have been received.

Deadline for submissions is December 1, 2016. Notification will be given on or around December 15, 2017.

Artistic New Directions will provide the performance venue, technical and production support, and marketing for the Eclectic Evening. We cannot provide rehearsal space.

The originator of an accepted piece is responsible for delivering the finished piece, of overseeing his/her/their own show, including rehearsals, performers and director and with minimal technical elements. Again, think Fringe Festival. Be advised, if you live outside the NY area, Artistic New Directions will not be able to put your show together for you. That is the responsibility of the originator of the piece, as stated above. Proof of rights will be needed. Artistic New Directions will facilitate wherever possible.

Eclectic Evening of Shorts X Application

don't forget to email the script to ANDJanice@aol.com
